How accessible is this website

This website is run by the University of Leeds. We realise that some parts of this website aren’t yet fully accessible. The issues are listed in full under the heading ‘non compliant content’. They include:

  • Some pages have poor text colour contrast
  • Text alternatives are not always provided for non-text content
  • Images aren’t always coded correctly
  • Certain input buttons within the site may not be consistent - please use alternative input options such as links, images and buttons 
  • Elements of the page (links, buttons, etc) do not always have a clear purpose
  • Links are not always underlined in the main body of the text
  • Instructions and labels are not always clear and we do not always provide context-sensitive help
  • The reading and navigation order of links is not always logical
  • You can’t use a screen reader on all pages
  • You can’t use voice recognition software on all pages
  • Not all pages can be magnified to 10x or 16x their size
  • Functional parts of the site are not consistent across all pages (sometimes an element is a button on one page, a link on another, and an image on another). 

We are developing a plan and will endeavour to resolve as many of the accessibility issues listed on this page and on the following page by September 2020. We will update this statement by January 2020 to reflect the detailed outcome of planning work to improve our websites and systems. The planned work will improve accessibility by allowing you to:

  • Change colours, contrast levels and fonts
  • Zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • Navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • Navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • Listen to most of the website using a screen reader 

We are also working to make the language on our website as simple as possible to understand. AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
